He Was Ready to Leave...

I was planning to write an entry on the deep sea fishing that we did (or didn't) accomplish on Sunday - I think I caught 3 of our groups 5 skate, along with 2 sharks, 1 flounder and 1 cod (which had to be thrown back).  Not a good fishing day.  However, my father's fight would soon be coming to an end.  It would go the way he wanted it, but not entirely the way I would have. Then again, it's not about me.

Sometimes, even for the non-enthusiast, basketball is life.

Sports Under the Watchful Eye of The MIB

I think we are reaching some kind of tipping point, when the MIB or the Syndicate is ready to unleash their plans on the world, when the Tampa Bay Rays are the best team in baseball and a basketball team can just up and leave....

Mo and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Mo knew it was going to be a terrible day when he woke up in the middle of the night with a crying child. His coffee wasn't right. The pizza order was number "13" And, on top of all that, he almost lost his Red Sox tickets.

Justin Masterson as Raymond Babbit

The Red Sox fell to the Tampa Bay Devil Hens tonight 5-4.  Tonight we discuss Justin Masterson and his lack of photo-genesis, the fact Tampa is in first place, and we discuss the bad behavior going down in Manny's life.

And we have a special birthday note as well...

He's Just Getting Ready to Leave

This is hard. My father is dying. Just seeing those words in print still affects me in all kinds of ways. And regardless of all of the advance warning, all of the antiseptic medical conversations with health care providers, all of the preplanning with him, when it eventually comes to pass that he leaves this world, all of those things may well as never have occurred because as much as I want to respect his wishes, I just can't seem to let go.

To Be Honest With You

One of those loaded phrases you should make sure you know what you're communicating before you choose to use.

Generational Shift and Changing Communication

We are now experiencing a dramatic shift in what to expect in our workplace. Every 15-20 years or so when the tail end of one generation meets the coming onslaught of the next, we go through this angst where the hand wringing of what these new workers will bring with them.  This generational shift seems particularly pronounced because of the technological nature of the shift and the changes in communication it creates.

Stumbling with Environmentalism

The Greener Things in life start with stumbling upon them.  As I so often do when I'm want to a topic, I sink to new levels.  Today, that level is environmentalism.

Lowest Scoring Teams of the Super Bowl Era

Here is an article I wrote in November, 2007 on the Lowest Scoring teams of the Super Bowl Era.  I do plan to update the statistics for the Patriots and the Dolphins, but the historical data remains complete.
